The Manufacturing Engineering and Advanced Metrology Group (GIFMA) is a consolidated research group recognized by the Government of Aragon and a key member of the Aragon Institute of Engineering Research (I3A) at the University of Zaragoza.

Our primary mission is to tackle the development, optimization, and automation of cutting-edge manufacturing and inspection techniques. By bridging the gap between academic innovation and industrial necessity, we provide advanced systems and solutions with high-impact applications across various productive sectors.

At the core of our research is the development, calibration, and verification of precision manufacturing and measurement systems. Our expertise encompasses a wide array of equipment, ranging from standard high and low-range measurements to sophisticated contact and non-contact methods. We specialize in creating custom, application-specific measurement solutions and online inspection systems, integrating every stage of the process—from hardware design and software development to the establishment of rigorous verification and calibration procedures.

Furthermore, GIFMA is deeply committed to the future of industry through active research in additive manufacturing and digitalization. We leverage various technologies to advance reverse engineering and the digital transformation of the factory floor. Our dedication extends to the analysis and optimization of industrial processes, utilizing continuous improvement techniques and digitalization to ensure that modern manufacturing is not only efficient and automated but also rooted in sustainability and long-term viability.
